HC Deb 26 February 1963 vol 672 cc149-50W
Mr. Wolrige-Gordon

asked the Secretary of State for Scotland what steps he will take to encourage the development of local craftsmanship and the production of local craft in the north-east of Scotland, with a view to reducing in a gainful manner the unemployment in the area.

Mr. Noble

Facilities already exist for the encouragement of craft production. The Scottish Country Industries Development Trust which is financed from the Development Fund and has area organisers throughout Scotland gives guidance and advice on the development of craft and other small business enterprises in rural areas: equipment and workshop loans are available from the Rural Industries Loan Fund for such businesses.
