§ 51. Sir G. Nabarroasked the Chancellor of the Exchequer if he will give an estimate of the revenue to be derived in a full year from a 16⅔ per cent. or 2d. in the shilling comprehensive betting, gaming and gambling tax levied on pools, horse and greyhound racing, bets in shops, chemin-de-fer, fixed-odds betting, bingo and other such activities; and how such revenue would compare with the yield 1962–63 of £42½ million of betting duty, currently confined to football pools and greyhound racing only.
§ Mr. du CannNo. There are no sufficiently firm figures of the total turnover on all forms of gambling on which to base a reliable estimate.
