§ Mr. Rossasked the Secretary of State for Scotland how much was spent in 1961–62 and 1962–63, respectively, on the clearance of derelict sites in Scotland; and how much he estimates will be spent on this in the coming year.
§ Mr. NobleI cannot state the precise amounts spent in 1961–62 and 1962–63 until the local authorities submit their56W claims for grant under the Local Employment Act. The estimated expenditure for these years is £11,600 and £60,000, respectively. Approximately £180,000 remains to be spent on schemes already approved. I expect the bulk of this expenditure to take place in the corning year along with an amount which cannot yet be estimated on schemes not yet submitted to me.
