§ 77. Mr. Straussasked the Minister of Transport what will be the effect on the British shipping trade of the action of the United States authorities in banning certain cargoes from ships that have carried goods to Cuba since 1st January; and whether he will make a statement.
§ Mr. MarplesThe prohibition applies to United States Government financed cargo. The few British ships left in the Cuban trade could hardly have carried much of this. Its transport has been largely confined to United States' vessels for many years now.
