§ Mr. Dempseyasked the Secretary of State for Scotland what was the total value of local government fully rate-borne expenditure approved during the last complete financial year; and what was the nature of the services involved.
§ Mr. NobleRelevant local expenditure for Exchequer equalisation grant purposes in 1961–62 is estimated at £108 million, and the total of Exchequer equalisation and Exchequer transitional grants for that year at £19 million. Fully rateborne expenditure is therefore estimated at £89 million. This covers all services for which local authorities are entitled to rate.
