§ Mr. ThorneycroftThere are rather more than 10,000 professionally qualified scientists and technologists at present in Government and private employment in defence research and development work, nearly all of them in the United Kingdom. Figures for other professionally qualified individuals are not readily available, but the numbers are comparatively small.
