§ 24. Sir J. Lucasasked the Civil Lord of the Admiralty what response there has been to the recently announced schemes to extend service for pension in the Royal Navy.
§ Mr. C. Ian Orr-EwingWe have recently introduced schemes whereby serving ratings can apply to extend their service to a total of 32 years pensionable service (the "sixth five"), and ratings who have left the Navy within the last three years can, like serving ratings, apply to reengage to complete 27 years' pensionable service (the "fifth five"). The response has been encouraging.
