asked the Parliamentary Secretary for Science, as representing the Lord President of the Council, if he is aware that 200 workmen are to be dismissed from Dorman Long's Bridge and Engineering Works, Middlesbrough, on 8th February, 1963; and what steps the Government intends to take to stop the growth of unemployment in Middlesbrough.

I am informed that 180 workers from Dorman Long, are to be made redundant on 15th February.

My noble Friend will be visiting Middlesbrough on Thursday.
