§ Sir T. Beamishasked the Secretary of State for Foreign Affairs what steps Her Majesty's Government propose to take to assist the Government of the Islamic Republic of Mauritania in their health campaign.
§ Mr. R. A. ButlerThe Mauritanian Minister of Health, when he was in this country in February, 1963, spoke of the need for transport for use in the extensive health campaign he is organising among the nomadic population of the interior. In response to this need, Her Majesty's Government have allocated the sum of £25,000 for the provision of a fleet of some twenty-six Land Rovers, two of which would be equipped as mobile dispensaries and two as ambulance conversions. Parliament will in due course be asked to vote that amount by means of a Supplementary Estimate. In the meantime an advance will be obtained from the Civil Contingencies Fund as required.
