§ Sir J. Vaughan-Morganasked the Secretary of State for Foreign Affairs what recent action Her Majesty's Government have taken to support United Nations civilian operations in the Congo.
§ Mr. P. ThomasIn view of the difficult condition of the Congolese economy and the consequent need to continue United Nations operations, Her Majesty's Government have contributed $500,000 towards the cost of maintaining United Nations civilian operations in the Congo during the remainder of 1963. Parliament will be asked in due course to vote this amount during the current finanical year by means of a Supplementary Estimate on the Foreign Grants and Loans Vote. In the meantime payment has been made by means of an advance from the Civil Contingencies Fund.
