§ Mr. Biggs-Davisonasked the Minister of Education when legislative effect will be given to the recommendations of the Roberts Committee on library powers; and what other proposals he has for improving the public library service in England and Wales.
§ Mr. ChatawayAs my right hon. Friend told the House on 11th July,he intends to introduce legislation as soon as the necessary time can be found; but he cannot give an assurance that it will be proceeded with in this Session. I hope, however, that all public library authorities will continue to make use of the guidance given in the Report on standards of public library service which my Department published a year ago.
