HC Deb 12 December 1963 vol 686 c105W
Mr. Skeet

asked the Secretary of State for Industry, Trade and Regional Development how many guarantees have been granted under the Export Guarantees Acts, 1949 to 1961, in the past full year for which figures are available, giving the names of the countries involved and the total amounts guaranteed.

Mr. Heath

In the 12 months to 31st October, 1963, 5,599 guarantees were granted. Of these 5,341 were comprehensive guarantees which usually give cover for all the exports made by the policy-holder during a period of 1 to 3 years. The number of transactions covered under such guarantees is very large but is not recorded.

The total amount guaranteed during the same period was £1,142 million.

It would be against the commercial interests of the Department to disclose the volume of its business on any individual market.
