§ Mr. A. Lewisasked the Minister of Housing and Local Government and Minister for Welsh Affairs whether, in view of the Government's policy of developing friendship with the East European countries, he will issue a circular encouraging local authorities to arrange for exchange visits of councillors, local authority representatives and school children to those countries; and if he will seek powers to make financial grants towards these projects.
§ Mr. CorfieldLocal authorities generally know the value of contact with their counterparts abroad and have suitable financial powers for this purpose. My right hon. Friend does not think that any action is required on his part.
