§ Mr. Taverneasked the Secretary of State for the Colonies what plans have been made for afforestation in Basutoland.
§ Mr. FisherBasutoland is unsuitable for large-scale afforestation but small plantations have been created in the course of anti-erosion work and to supply fuel and poles. Approximately 3½million trees were planted between 1959 and 1961, the last three years for which figures are available.
