asked the Secretary of State for Commonwealth Relations if he will assist the Government of Trinidad and Tobago in their final settlement with the Interim Commissioner for the West Indies.

Mr. Fisher

Yes. The British Government have agreed to make a loan to the Government of Trinidad and Tobago for this purpose. The loan will be for £581,250, for two years, and will bear interest.

Payment will be made in the first place from the Civil Contingencies Fund and a Supplementary Estimate will be presented in due course.
