§ Wing Commander Bullusasked the Minister of Public Building and Works whether he is aware of the poor condition of the trees in Trafalgar Square; and what action he proposes to take.
§ Mr. SharplesA survey has shown that only four of the plane trees in the Square are in a sound condition. The others are either dead or dying, and200W there is a risk that they may shed branches and cause injury to passers-by. We are therefore arranging, after consultation with our Advisory Committee on Forestry, for the unhealthy trees to be removed. We are consulting the Committee about replanting.
