HC Deb 04 December 1963 vol 685 c175W
34. Mr. Ledger

asked the Minister of Transport what research has been done, or sponsored, by his Department into crosswind hazards on motorways.

Mr. Galbraith

The Road Research Laboratory have made some observations on the effect of weather conditions, including wind, on motorway traffic behaviour, and have studied German work on this problem. Crosswinds can be a hazard on motorways and other high speed roads in open country. We must rely on the driver to adjust his technique to the prevailing conditions.

35. Mr. Ledger

asked the Minister of Transport what representations he has received on the danger of crosswinds on the M.1 motorway.

Mr. Galbraith

None within the last twelve months.
