HC Deb 04 December 1963 vol 685 c185W
90. Mr. Oram

asked the Minister of Transport if the London Traffic Survey will cover the problem of cross-river traffic by tunnels, bridges and ferries; and if, in considering action as a result of the Buchanan Report and the London Traffic Survey, he will have in mind the need for a scheme to replace the Woolwich Ferry and the swing bridges over the Royal group of docks, where traffic hold-ups have been causing inconvenience for many years.

Mr. Marples

The London Traffic Survey will cover all traffic movements throughout Greater London, and will provide a basis on which London County Council, as highway improvement authority, will be able to consider what further provision there should be for cross-river traffic.

They have already provided new and larger vessels for the Woolwich ferry and hope to start improvements to the approaches next year.
