§ 76. Mr. A. Lewisasked the Minister of Transport if he is aware of the growing practice by which holders of provisional driving licences drive vehicles without L plates and unaccompanied; and if he will introduce legislation to amend the Road Traffic Acts to increase the penalties for persons charged and found guilty of such offences.
§ Mr. GalbraithThe penalty was increased by the Road Traffic Act, 1962, under which this offence also counts under the "totting-up" provisions. Over the three years 1960–62 there was a decline in the number of learner driver offences brought before the Courts.
