§ Sir Knox Cunninghamasked the Minister of Aviation what plans he has for the use of Nutt's Corner Airfield in 159W County Antrim; whether he intends to dispose of the land; and if he will make a statement.
§ Mr. MartenNutt's Corner Airfield closed for flying on 25th September, 1963, when the civil air services were transferred to Aldergrove. I have no long-term use for the airfield and it is my intention to dispose of the land and such buildings as have value as soon as possible. Some of the surplus land will be required for new road construction, and some may be transferred to the Government of Northern Ireland for their use, but a very substantial area will be returned to agriculture, in accordance with the recommendations of the Belfast Regional Survey and Plan. This land will be offered to the former owners at current market value and such as they do not wish to re-acquire will be sold in the open market.
