§ Mr. Masonasked the Postmaster-General if he will list all submarine cable projects at present being laid, and the cable-laying projects planned over the 202W next five years, specifying all countries to be benefited by cable contact and the cost to his department of each operation.
§ Mr. BevinsThe Post Office is providing its share of the following cables at the estimated cost shown:
£m. To Germany (2cables) … 0.6 To Denmark … 0.4 To U.S.A. (TAT 3) … 8.0 We are also planning to provide our share of further cables to the Continent of Europe which may cost approximately £3 million. These cables will improve communication both with the countries where they terminate and with all other countries which can be reached through them.
