§ Lady TweedsmuirIn January, 1963, there were 54 junior secondary schools in Lanarkshire, attended by 39 per cent. of the county's secondary pupils: nine provided instruction in a language other than English. In addition, nine schools, attended by 18 per cent. of the secondary school population, provided four-year courses leading to the Ordinary grade of the Scottish Certificate of Education, and in all of these a language was taught.
