asked the Secretary of State for Air if he will list the number and types of troop transport aircraft now immediately available to his Department.

The Royal Air Force Transport Force consists at present of 23 Britannias, 11 Comets, 48 Hastings, 28 Beverleys, 12 Valettas, 10 Argosies, 12 Pioneers, 27 Twin Pioneers, 4 Pembrokes, 26 Whirlwinds, 10 Sycamores and 18 Belvederes.

asked the Secretary of State for Air how many Service men have been flown home in Royal Air Force Transport Command aircraft from the Middle East and Far East during the past twelve months for treatment of illness, serious injury or other urgent reasons.

In the 12 months ended 30th September, 1962, 950 Service men have been flown home in Royal Air Force Transport Command aircraft from the Middle East and Far East for treatment of illness or serious injury. No figures are available in respect of Service men who travelled home from overseas Commands for urgent compassionate reasons.
