§ 48. Dr. D. Johnsonasked the Secretary of State for the Home Department whether he is aware that three of the members of the Royal Commission on the Police expressed the opinion that a Commissioner of Rights should be appointed to review the decisions of chief officers of police in dealing with complaints from the public; and what action he proposes to take in this respect.
§ Mr. BrookeThe majority view of the Royal Commission was that there is no need for new machinery to deal with complaints against the police, but the Commission made a number of proposals for the improvement of the existing machinery. I am in consultation with the representative bodies concerned about these questions.
