HC Deb 29 November 1962 vol 668 c82W
39 and 40. Commander Pursey

asked the President of the Board of Trade (1) what consideration he is giving to the placing of contracts or sub-contracts where practicable in the Hull area in view of the unemployment situation in the area:

(2) what steps his Department are taking to direct the attention of firms wishing to expand to the facilities in the Hull area and the number of unemployed available for new industries.

Mr. D. Price

As I told the hon and gallant Member on 13th November, my right hon. Friend has not taken any special steps to recommend firms to Hull, in view of the priority which must be given to steering new industrial developments to development districts. The benefits of the contracts preference schemes are also confined to development districts.
