HC Deb 27 November 1962 vol 668 c33W
84. Sir M. Stoddart-Scott

asked the Postmaster-General why the sub-post office in Sawley village has been closed; what is the distance to the nearest post office; and when he hopes to open another post office in this village.

Miss Pike

I am sorry the Sub-Office at Sawley had to be closed for administrative reasons; the nearest post office is two miles away. We shall open another past office in Sawley just as soon as we can find a suitable candidate for the sub-postmastership. Meanwhile, counter services are being provided on a temporary basis for three hours each Friday afternoon by staff from the Ripon Head Post Office.
