§ 85 and 86. Mr. A. Lewisasked the Postmaster-General (1) whether he has received the communication dated 17th November, 1962, from the hon. Member for West Ham, North, making a complaint concerning interference with the telephone of an alderman of the county borough of West Ham; whether he will investigate this matter; what action he 34W proposes to take; and whether he will make a statement;
(2) if he is aware of interference experienced with a telephone call on the Maryland Exchange on 14th November, details of which have been sent to him; on how many occasions in the past there has been similar interference; and what action he is taking to prevent a recurrence of this trouble.
§ Mr. BevinsI understand that the alderman approached my local officials after the incident, and I can only confirm the supposition, as expressed in their reply to him, that an unknown person was taking advantage of a double connection. These double connections are rare, but unfortunately cannot be avoided entirely. I understand that this was an isolated occurrence, and I should like to express my regret for the inconvenience and irritation which it caused.
