HC Deb 26 November 1962 vol 668 cc9-10W
67. Mr. Awbery

asked the Minister of Agriculture, Fisheries and Food if he is aware of the dangers to health by poison- ing through the use of insectidies on crops and additives for colouring and improving the taste of food; and if he will hold an inquiry into this subject.

Mr. Scott-Hopkins

The use of pesticides in agriculture was investigated recently by the Research Study Group whose Report is in the Library, and I do not consider that any further inquiry is necessary at the present time. The Food Standards Committee is reviewing the use of additives for colouring and is investigating the use of additives for flavouring food. I expect to receive its reports on these subjects next year.
