§ Mr. Masonasked the First Secretary of State if he will order an inquiry into illegal pressures which were brought to bear upon tribal chiefs during the Northern Rhodesia elections, and particularly the extent to which threats of withdrawing protection from the Litunga of Barotseland were made if he actively intervened in the elections.
§ Mr. R. A. ButlerMy information does not show that any such pressures were brought to bear on the tribal chiefs, or that there were any such threats to withdraw protection from the Litunga should he intervene in the elections.
