§ Sir C. Mott-Radclyffeasked the Lord Privy Seal what action Her Majesty's Government have taken towards the relief of distress caused by the recent storms in Thailand.
§ Mr. P. ThomasHer Majesty's Government heard with profound regret of the destruction and loss of life caused by these violent storms, the worst disaster in Thailand for fifty years, and are making a donation of £1,000 to help in relief work. The British Red Cross Society and the Oxford Committee for Famine Relief have also each contributed £1,000 in response to an appeal by the Thai Red Cross. Parliament will be asked in due course to vote the money for Her Majesty's Government's donation by means of a Supplementary Estimate 155W to the Foreign Grants and Loans Vote. In the meantime an advance will be obtained from the Civil Contingencies Fund.
