§ 48. Mr. D. Footasked the Secretary of State for the Colonies how many persons coming from the Republic of South Africa have entered, and sought permission to remain in, each of the High Commission Territories of Basutoland, Bechuanaland and Swaziland, during the present year; and whether he will give an assurance that such persons will not be required to return to the Republic.
§ Mr. SandysI have asked the High Commissioner for the latest immigration figures and will ciculate the information in the OFFICIAL REPORT. I cannot give an unqualified assurance that without distinction any person who seeks to enter and remain in the Territories will be given permission to do so.
