HC Deb 20 November 1962 vol 667 c123W
Mr. Hector Hughes

asked the Postmaster-General if he will state the number of applicants for telephones in Aberdeen who are now on the waiting list; and what steps he is taking to reduce that number.

Miss Pike

In the City of Aberdeen there were 27 applications on the waiting list at 30th September, and a further 233 under inquiry or in course of being met. All the waiting applications are in housing development areas, and most of the applicants' houses have not yet been completed.

New cables are being laid and most of those at present waiting will be given service by the end of the year.

Over 1,200 telephones have been installed in Aberdeen during the year ended 30th September.
