HC Deb 19 November 1962 vol 667 cc89-90W
61. Mr. Mason

asked the Minister of Health if he is aware of the Sheffield Regional Hospital Board's special difficulties arising out of his Department's request to limit financial expenditure in hospitals, particularly their problem of recruiting nurses, and of its effects on their hospital management committees, including Barnsley; what steps is he taking to help them; and if he will make a statement.

Mr. Wainwright

asked the Minister of Health what measures he intends to take to ensure that the Sheffield Regional Hospital Board's present financial diffi- culties will be removed so that the Board can continue to put its plan into operation.

Mr. Braine

The allocation allows for expansion of the service to continue. The Board has a duty not to exceed it.
