HC Deb 13 November 1962 vol 667 cc33-4W
Mr. Mason

asked the Postmaster-General if he will give an undertaking to consult the House on the question of pay television before encouraging manufacturers of pay television equipment, and not to agree to a pilot scheme before the aproval of the House has been given.

Mr. Bevins

The White Paper on Broadcasting, paragraph 85, stated that the Government, for the present, reserved its decision on pay television. That is still the position, and I would ask the hon. Member to await the forthcoming White Paper.
