HC Deb 13 November 1962 vol 667 c32W
68. Mr. Wingfield Digby

asked the Parliamentary Secretary for Science if he will make a statement on the increase in the estimate for the Dragon high-temperature reactor project at Win-frith Heath from £13,600,000 to between £20 million and £25 million.

Mr. Denzil Freeth

The O.E.C.D. Dragon project has so far progressed satisfactorily, but the partners in the project agree that the original five year programme would give insufficient time to observe both the reactor experiment in operation and the behaviour of the fuel. A revision of the project agreement is being negotiated to extend its life to eight years in all at a total estimated cost of £25 million.
