HC Deb 13 November 1962 vol 667 c38W
Mr. Forman

asked the Secretary of State for Scotland what progress has been made by the Working Party comprising representatives of the Scottish Office and Glasgow Corporation appointed to find new industries for the factories vacated by the closing down of the North British Locomotive Company.

Mr. Noble

This Working Party, established by the Corporation of Glasgow as Planning Authority, has made a survey of the sites and factories in question to consider their future potential in the context of the redevelopment of the areas in which they lie. The Corporation, who have been in touch with the North British Locomotive Company about the possibility of the land and buildings at Springburn being made available for other uses, are expecting to hear further from them shortly in the light of replies the Company have received to their advertisements for the sale of the property. In Polmadie the Board of Trade have taken over one building and propose to lease it to a German engineering firm.
