§ Mr. Greyasked the Minister of Transport how much of the recently announced extra £70 million for work on public services is for additional road works in the North-East.
§ Mr. MarplesThe £70 million increase in public service investment, which my right hon. Friend announced at the beginning of October, did not include any expenditure on roadworks.
The road programme already provides for a doubling of expenditure next year in the North-East. The possibility of a still further increase is being examined.
