§ Mr. MaclayDuring 1961, 178 youths between the ages of 17 and 21 were convicted of crimes of violence against the person. Of these, 22 (12.3 per cent.) were committed to Perth detention centre; 53 (29.8 per cent.) were committed to prison; and 11 (6.2 per cent.) to borstal.
