HC Deb 21 May 1962 vol 660 c19W
77. Mrs. Hart

asked the President of the Board of Trade how many now jobs have been provided in the Lesmahagow and Carluke areas of Lanarkshire in the last six months; and how many are expected to arise during the next six months.

Mr. Macpherson:

No projects in Lesmahagow or Carluke for which industrial development certificates are required have created new jobs in the last six months or are expected to do so in the next six months. The areas will, however, benefit from developments in the North Lanarkshire group of employment exchange areas, where there are now over 7,500 jobs in prospect from new building and other developments reported to the Board of Trade. About 3,000 of these are likely to arise within the next year.
