Mr. Harper

asked the Minister of Health how many people have died through smallpox during the last twelve months; how many have been vaccinated against this disease during the same period; and how many have died from the effects of vaccination in the same period.

There were 24 deaths in the twelve months to 30th April, excluding deaths of persons infected before entering the realm. The number of vaccinations is not known. Vaccination was mentioned in the statement of cause of 17 deaths registered in the same period.
