HC Deb 02 May 1962 vol 658 cc145-6W
Sir C. Osborne

asked the Lord Privy Seal if he will make a statement on the Faroese fishing limit dispute which affects the Grimsby trawling industry.

Mr. P. Thomas

There is no dispute. So far as British vessels are concerned, fishing in the waters around the Faroe Islands is governed by the Anglo-Danish Fishery Agreement of 1959. On 28th April, the Danish Government gave notice that this Agreement should terminate on 27th April, 1963. In doing so they indicated that they were still con sidering our proposals of 17th April that future fishing arrangements in this area should be discussed between the two Governments.
