ESTIMATED INCREASE IN MEDICAL GRADUATES

asked Her Majesty's Government:

What increase in the annual number of new medical graduates in England and Wales, over the 1961 figures, they anticipate in 1962, 1963, 1964 and 1965; and what increase in the population is anticipated in each of these years.

The increase in the annual number of new medical gradu- ates in England and Wales as a percentage of those who graduated an 1961 is expected to be of the order of 1 per cent., 4 per cent. and 5 per cent. in 1962, 1963 and 1964 respectively. No estimate is available for 1965. The population increases in these years over the total population in 1961 axe expected to be 1.1 per cent., 1.9 per cent., 2.6 per cent. and 3.2 per cent. respectively.
