§ Mr. Hector Hughesasked the Postmaster-General what are his present plans for reducing the charges for telephone calls.
§ Mr. BevinsI have announced several reductions in call charges in the last two years, and the extension of Subscriber Trunk Dialling brings with it a 149W lower general scale of call charges. I estimate that the charges to our customers for S.T.D. calls in 1962–63 will be £7 million below what they would be for the same number of calls at the old tariffs.
