Mr. Gowerasked the Secretary of State for Commonwealth Relations what recent assurances he has received from Dominion Governments in relation to the pensions of former members of the Colonial and Overseas Services who were formerly employed in the territories which have now become independent Dominions within the Commonwealth.
§ Mr. SandysNone. No such assurances are necessary. Agreements providing for the continued payment of pensions are made between the British Government and the Government concerned at the time when a dependent territory becomes independent.
