§ THE FIRST LORD OF THE ADMIRALTY (LORD CARRINGTON)My right honourable friend the Secretary of State for War has had a special survey made in the area of the Dartmoor National Park with the object of removing all unnecessary military para-
phernalia and litter. I can assure the noble Lord that the majority of the complaints he raised in a list which he sent recently to my noble friend, Lord Jellicoe, have now been rectified. My right honourable friend regrets, however, that it is not possible to discontinue the use of roads across the range, or to avoid vehicle marks on the ground. He is satisfied that the use of the training area and ranges on Dartmoor must continue, but he will see to it that every consideration is given to the enjoyment of Dartmoor by the public.
