§ 60. Sir A. Hurdasked the Parliamentary Secretary for Science what progress towards establishing a meat research centre was made in the recent discussions which the Agricultural Research Council held with representatives of cattle breeders, producers and meat marketing organisations.
§ Mr. Denzil FreethThe proposals of the Agricultural Research Council for the establishment of a meat research organisation were explained to representatives of farmers and the meat trade at a meeting on 19th March and were 107W welcomed by those present. The method of financing the organisation was discussed and my noble Friend the Joint Parliamentary Secretary to the Ministry of Agriculture, Fisheries and Food said that the necessary arrangements would be made for the collection of a levy from the industry as a contribution towards the cost.
