63. Mr. K. Robinson

asked the Minister of Health how many agency nurses were employed in the hospital service on the most recent date for which figures are available; what was the total cost of agency nurses to the service in the last year for which figures are available; and how the average weekly cost to the service of an agency nurse compares with the minimum and maximum salaries of a staff nurse.

At 30th June, 1961, hospitals were authorised to employ up to a total of 388 agency nurses, but some did not employ as many as authorised. The other information is not available.
