§ Mr. MaudlingThe total number of refugees from Ruanda-Urundi who have entered Uganda is about 30,000. I understand that they are leaving Ruanda because of fears for life and property arising from political and tribal disputes. Refugees from the Bahutu and Batutsi tribes have entered Uganda in about equal numbers. I am informed that the Uganda Government is providing relief for those in need, and is trying to resettle as many of the refugees as possible.
