§ 7. Mr. Brewisasked the Minister of Labour what proportion of young persons leaving Scottish schools in the summer of 1961 have entered employment; and what is the proportion of boys and girls, respectively, who have entered apprenticeships or employment with training for more than a year.
§ Mr. HareOver 99.6 per cent. had entered employment on 12th February, 1962. No separate figures are available showing the types of employment entered by summer school leavers as such, but 41 per cent. of the boys and 6.8 per cent. girls starting work in Scotland from July to October, 1961, inclusive, entered apprenticeships, and in addition 5 per cent. of the boys and 10.5 per cent. of girls entered employment with training for more than a year.
