§ 4. Mr. Grimondasked the Secretary of State for the Colonies if he will give an undertaking that Mrs. Mafeking will not be handed over to the South African Government.
§ Mr. MaudlingNo request has been received from the South African Government for Mrs. Mafeking's enforced return to South Africa, but, like any other person wishing to settle in Basutoland, she must comply with the immigration law as set out in the Entry and Residence Proclamation. As I said in reply to the hon. Member for Woolwich, East (Mr. Mayhew) on 1st March, the question of her continued residence in Basutoland is still before the Appeal Board established in accordance with that Proclamation.
